Kent Nelson is Doctor Fate, a powerful sorcerer and agent for the Lords of Order who fights evil alongside his wife Inza. His amulet, cloak and helmet are creations of the ancient Nabu who acts as his mentor and spiritual guide. He is a founding member of the Justice Society of America.

Socialization- The process of learning and internalizing the values, beliefs, and norms of our social group, by which we become functioning members of society.Page 101.
Dr. Fate relates to socialization because not every character the doctor fate was the same person, every single dr. Fate character was almost a completely different person, each having to socialize and figure out the beliefs and the values of the other dr. Fates. This makes him or her a very intriguing character.

"Deviance"
Deviance is a behavior, trait, belief, or other characteristic that violates a norm and causes a negative reaction in a group. The definition of deviance varies widely across cultures, time, and situations.
Dr. Fate Whom is Kent Nelson this time was deviant in positive and negative ways. when he was a boy he accompanied his father Sven who was an archaeologist. They were on an expedition to the Valley of Ur in Mesopotamia when they stumbled on the tomb of the ancient Egyptian Wizard Nabu. In our society no one typically goes on an expedition which is deviant to us. Kent opened up the tomb which released a poisonous gas and killed his father. This although not typically thought of is positive deviance, Nabu the Wizard felt sorry for Kent for killing his father and so Nabu took care of and trained Kent to become Dr. Fate in the end. Thus being a positive deviance.

"Race and Ethnicity"
Race is a socially defined category, based on real or perceived biological differences between groups of people. Ethnicity is a socially defined category based on common language, religion, nationality, history, or another cultural factor.
Dr. Fate is portrayed as a white male and also a white female. Originally Kent was the son of a wealthy archaeologist, who was white. And therefore associated with the upper wealthy class. His crime fighting was typically against lower class individuals and sometimes minority's.

"The macro-micro Link in social institutions" Education- The process by which a society transmits its knowledge, values, and expectations to its members so they can function effectively.

Dr. Fate, (Kent Nelson in this topic) was a very educated young boy from the states before his father had died. He again was educated in the values and expectations of him now that he was chosen to be Dr. Fate by Nabu. Kent learned the ways of Nabu and his people, the values passed down from Nabu's ancestors to Nabu and then to Kent and all of the knowledge that comes along with being Dr. Fate and using his newly learned powers to fight evil and defend the good and weak. Kents education was greatly valued from Nabu and everybody that he learned from.

Doctor Fate is a legacy of heroes in the realm of magic who act as agents of the Lords of Order in the battle against chaos, using the powerful Amulet of Anubis, Cloak of Destiny and Helmet of Fate. Kent Nelson was the original and the first role model, given his powers by Nabu and residing in the Tower of Fate in Salem. Eric Strauss was the next chosen champion after Nelson's death, who has always looked up to Kent, later merging into Fate as a dual entity with his partner Linda Strauss. Inza Cramer, wife of the first Fate, was later given the mantle she looked up to Kent and wished to help keep his legacy going anyway she could. Following Zero Hour a new man named Jared Stevens emerged with the power, simply calling himself Fate. Hector Hall, son of Hawkman, took it up during Justice Be Done. Kent V. Nelson, grand-nephew to the original Fate, took the mantle during Countdown to Mystery, All three individual looking to the past of what Kent Nelson has done for guidance.
